This is a 1995 G&L, model S-500 before disassembly.

Starting work on the neck.

Removing the bulk of old fretboard is done quickly and brutally....Big rasp
file!

Final flattening of the neck was done on a belt sander.

New Ebony fretboard...12" to 16" compound radius. Ready for profiling.

After tapering the fretboard, binding is applied and allowed to cure for
a day before gluing the fretboard to the neck.

Looks like a good fit...The neck was sanded and resprayed with a hint of
vintage amber. While the lacquer cures on the neck, work starts on the body.

The old pickguard will be used to make a tracing for the new one.

Tracing is about finished - The new pickguard will be a 3-ply vintage cream
color.

A push/pull volume pot for coil tapping. A pickup selector switch,
and a tone control being planned for layout positioning.

Nearing the final stages of re-assembly.

Although dramatically altered, this little 'sleeper' still appears to be
almost as though it came from the factory!

All that's left to do is try it out before putting it on a plane back to
it's home. Guitaro, Jan does the honors. hmmm.....looks pretty good on him.
